If you're looking for a small car, that's still sporty and stylish, you won't go wrong with a Mazda 3. The range of engines means it's a versatile car; there are three petrol engines and three diesels. The fastest petrol is the 25bhp 2.3 litre Turbo. The diesels have either 113bhp, 148bhp or 183bhp.
The Mazda 3 has a firm yet comfortable ride while retaining excellent body control and road grip. The steering is responsive and light, making a truly enjoyable driving experience.
The Mazda 3 is an excellent choice for those wanting an array of equipment, without breaking the bank.
The most efficient in the range is the 1.6 diesel, which returns almost 66mpg and emits just 115g/km of CO2. It would also be great as a company car as it offers very low company car tax bills.
The interior of the Mazda 3 is sturdy and well-built. It features active front headrests to minimise whiplash in the event of a collision, plus twin front, side and curtain airbags. Stability control and traction control come as standard and an alarm and deadlocks help to keep the thieves at bay.
Behind the wheel the Mazda 3 provides great flexibility. An adjustable steering wheel can be changed for height and reach to get you the best driving position. The controls are nice and chunky and feature uber-cool flashing lights.
The stylish shape of the Mazda 3 does not compromise the space inside. The rear seats 2 six-footers easily. The boot is large and increases further when the rear seats are folded down.
The TS2 trim provides great equipment, including remote locking, air conditioning, climate control, Bluetooth, cruise control and alloy wheels. The new Mazda 3 is very well priced, yet in this current climate it might be still be out of reach for a lot of people. In that case, a used Mazda 3 Oxford would still be a great choice.
