An estate car might not be top of your list if you are looking for a stylish car that also has great performance, but then the Volvo V70 isn't like most estate cars.
The V70 is great to look at. It's sleek yet sturdy, sharp but with nice smooth curves. As is legendary with Volvo's, comfort is high on the list. It provides a wonderfully quiet ride and the seats are so comfortable, you will be happy even on long journeys.
A range of are engines available, including a 2.0 litre petrol, 3.2 litre petrol and a 2.0 litre diesel. There is also a 4.4 litre V8 with excellent performance.
Inside, as you would expect, the dashboard is beautifully made, with high quality materials. Rear passengers are well catered for with impressive head and legroom. Storage won't be a problem either, the boot has a 575 litre capacity which extends to 1,600 litres with the rear seats folded down.
The new Volvo V70 has better handling than its predecessor. Soft suspension makes for a smooth ride and its more than capable in corners.
The V70 has equipment in abundance. Even then entry level ES models come with alloy wheels, electric windows, dual zone climate control and MP3 compatible CD player. Other models add leather-faced upholstery, Bluetooth and satellite navigation.
Safety is one of the highlights of the V70. Anti-whiplash and side impact protection systems are standard across the range, with traction control fitted to most models. Seven airbags are fitted as standard and a blind spot information system is available.
