The London Olympics are in than 200 days and we are all getting very excited about it, living in Hackney I am only a few miles away from all the action. I am quite impressed about how the country is getting involved with the games, especially large companies who normally shy away from UK based marketing or sponsorship.
BMW is a key sponsor and supplier to the UK Olympic Games and it will be using the event to help promote its brand and products. It has a few small clubs set up as part of the partnership to help young UK talent get to and from their training ground or event. The Mini brand is a British icon now owned by the German BMW brand but its "Britishness" will be used as an ambassador during the games.
BMW has unveiled its new Mini London 2012 special edition models, in honour of its partnership with Team GB and Paralympics GB. Special edition cars will be limited to 2012 units and are available in Mini Cooper Shropshire, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD hatchback guises.
Special features on these cars include a Union Jack-themed exterior " available in Chilli Red, White Silver or Lightning Blue " and the Olympic graphic adorned on the roof. As standard they come with white mirror caps, a sports stripe, which runs over the length of the car and Olympic graphics on the car's side skirts. Unique to special edition models are grey 17-inch conical spoke alloys.
On the interior the British theme is continued with black 'Lounge Leather' seats, which feature red-and-blue stitching with white piping. The handbrake, gear lever and floor mats are also colour coded.
Prices for the Mini London 2012 special edition models start from 17,800 for the Mini Cooper and go up to 20,860 for the Cooper SD variant.
