When you're buying a car what sort of drive system it comes with isn't always a consideration unless you are looking for an all-out 4x4 vehicle. Whilst most people know that a 4x4 is probably better off-road, in the mud and in the snow, when it comes to rear wheel drive or front wheel drive most people don't know the difference and in some cases wouldn't be able to tell what their car came with. Perhaps thirty years ago most cars except for the immortal Mini came with rear wheel drive as standard. Over the years cars seemed to adopt front wheel drive instead. The majority of cars did this because for most driving situations front wheel drive will give you much better handling and traction. Also when it comes to bad weather, such as rain or even worse snow, then front wheel drive has much more advantage when compared to rear wheel drive. However, some manufacturers still persist and release cars with rear wheel drive. The question is why? Perhaps the main reason for this is that in the dry, or on a racetrack, most people consider that a rear wheel drive car will be able to out-perform a front wheel drive car in terms of handing and speed. Whilst this sounds pretty good in theory, this extra handling goes straight out the window as soon as the weather turns sour so for most people front wheel drive or four wheel drive is best. Of course if you're looking for a car for the race track or would like a sports car then you'll likely find that rear wheel drive will be equipped in these cases and on certain models. As they say- the choice is yours! If you now have a better understanding what sort of drive system you are looking for in your car and you want to look for used cars in Kidderminster then pop along to your local car dealer to browse their stock up close and personal.
