The first thing to know about the Scirocco and its strange sounding and spelt name is that the word is the Italian word for the Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara. Whilst the Volkswagen Scirocco's desert credentials are unknown out on the streets the Scirocco has always made an impact. First released in 1974 this 3 door coupe has come in three different generations. The first generation was sold between 1974 and 1982 and was initially released to replace the Karmann Ghia coupe. After eight years the Scirocco was finally showing its age and a second generation was released and the production run until 1992 and was superseded by the Volkswagen Corrado which was also a sporty coupe, but obviously much more modern. Whilst many people figured that the Scirocco model and name had been relegated to automobile history by Volkswagen over 15 years later there was a surprise for fans of the Scirocco as Volkswagen decided to release a new version of the coupe. Whilst the new Scirocco is a completely different beast to the original and much loved version, if you look closely at the latest version the car certainly manages to tip its hat towards its heritage and there is a little bit of a resemblance between the new and the old. Of course when you are comparing the performance of both the top speed and acceleration along with fuel efficiency between the new version and those of the past, then it is clear that technology has moved on a long way since the Scirocco first hit the streets in the 70s. Whilst the Scirocco back in the day was an excellent car, forty years of technological development means that the latest version when compared to the old looks like it arrived from a different planet all together! If the Volkswagen Scirocco has snagged your interest and you're looking for a VW Scirocco in Kent or the surrounding areas then why not visit your local dealership who can point you in the right direction.
