There has long been a heated discussion between men and women over who is the better driver. Of course statistics speak for themselves, with women getting much cheaper insurance deals than men because they are safer on the road. Of course I am a woman drive and speaking from personal experience I am in no doubt that women are better drivers than men. Let us look at the evidence.
As I do not want to be accused of being completely biased, I will give men some credit. As a general rule they are much better with reversing and parking. Most men seem to have better spatial awareness than woman. Admittedly I struggle when trying to reverse park. Alongside the spatial awareness issue I also find it difficult to see through the rear window due to my height. Being a little vertically challenged can cause all kinds of issues.
The main problem with male drivers is the fact that they are prepared to take risks and are reluctant to drive defensively. My husband is the perfect example of this. We live in a windy country lane where there is only space for one car to pass at numerous points. During the night he always drives at speed along these roads with the point of view that he will see the lights of the other car if something is coming. In theory it makes sense but what if the driver if another vehicle forgot to out their lights on?
Of course women are criticized for driving too close to the wheel, always having two hands on it and driving too slowly. However we should remind all male drivers that you much more likely to die in a Kia Servicing car accident than a woman is. Lesson over.
