The Ford Mondeo is a family car that replaced the Ford Sierra, it is available as a 4 door saloon, 5 door hatchback and as an estate. The Mondeo has been on sale in the UK since 1993, a good year to launch a new model as the market was starting to recover after a bad time the year before. The Vauxhall Cavalier had just completed three years of being Britain's most popular new large family car, but Ford still held top spot in the supermini sector with the Fiesta and in the small family sector with the Escort.
The Ford Mondeo was the first car in its sector to have a driver's airbag as standard, and other standard refinements included power steering, central locking and electric front windows. The Mondeo quickly became popular amongst private buyers and fleet because it was priced competitively had good handling and the ride was excellent.
At the Detroit Motor Show Ford announced the all new Mondeo, it is due to go on sale in the UK in 2013. The new Mondeo is part of Ford's new Global car strategy, currently there are significant differences in the Mondeo around the global markets.
The US version of the new car will come with a plug-in electric or hybrid petrol engine. Like all new Fords the 2013 model will be fitted with a large array of technological gadgets " something that Ford has become renowned for. This includes lane keeping tech systems, adaptive cruise control, voice activated controls and parking assist.
The Ford Mondeo has been improving in quality with every generation, the new model will of course be available with Ford offers to help entice customers into the new car. No doubt the new model will be very popular with fleet drivers too, as it is a very good all round car.
