In 2010 Jaguar launched the all new XJ model; it is a significant step away from the classic looks of the used Jaguar XJ. The new model takes a lot of its design cues from the Jaguar XF and recent concept models. The new Jaguar XJ model has bought Jaguar into the 21st century; it has amazing new technology and a very modern look.
Currently the XJ comes with a choice of 2 petrol engines and one diesel, the petrol engine range consists of a 5.0 litre V8 monster with either 385 bhp or a staggering 510 bhp. The V6 diesel engine comes with a healthy 275 bhp and is the same engine found in the Range Rover Sport. The diesel model can do 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds and can average 40 miles to the gallon.
For customers who like to be driven around the XJ comes in long wheel base variant too, adding a few extra inches of leg room at the back. The XJ is competing with the Mercedes-Benz S Class and BMW 7 Series in the luxury full size saloon category. To be competitive Jaguar offer sport orientated models of the XJ and recently launched the Jaguar XJ Sport and Peed Pack.
The Sport Pack comprises of new 20 inch 'Venom' alloy wheels " red painted brake callipers " aerodynamic styling to the front and rear plus optional sport seats for the front and the rear. The radiator grill has a gloss black mesh finish with the same treatment applied to the lower air opening and side vents.
The Speed Pack raises the limited top speed from 155mph to 174mph, turning the supercharged XJ models into the fastest saloons the company has ever built. The XJ is the flagship model for Jaguar and has to set the trend for the smaller models to follow and by the looks of things to come the XJ is not shying away from this responsibility.
