The Seat Ibiza has been around since 1984, it has always been a popular little car. New drivers, lady drivers and young drivers chose the Ibiza because of its price, looks and reliability. Since the VW Group took over SEAT the whole brand has been designed to be more appealing to the younger generation. Over the years the Ibiza has firmly established itself has the most popular model in the Spanish car maker's line-up.

The current generation of Ibiza model has been around since 2008, it is available as a three of five door hatchback and as a 5 door estate. Engine options range from a 1.2 litre petrol to a 1.4 litre super and turbo charged. The diesel range starts from a 1.2 litre and goes up to a 1.6 litre TDI " all engines are available with either a 5 speed manual or a 7 speed DSG automatic.

Within the Ibiza range there are some high performance models, namely the FR and Cupra models. The FR uses the 1.4 TSI and has 148 bhp; the Cupra also uses the 1.4 TSI but has 178 bhp. The 2.0 litre diesel engine was introduced in 2010; it has 143 bhp and averages 61 miles to the gallon. Great power and fuel efficiency figures!

The 2008 Ibiza has received a small refresh and will be hitting Seat dealers later this year. The new model features new front and rear bumpers, grille and badge. It will also come with VW's new Portable Media System with touch screen monitor. The new VW system is a portable in car entertainment system; it combines the functions of a navigation system, on-board computer, audio system and hands-free device. While it is fully integrated into the Ibiza's on-board electronics, it is also removable for use on-the-go.
