The Vauxhall Corsa or Opel Corsa as it is known in the rest of Europe is a small super mini produced by General Motors since 1982. Prior to 1993 the Corsa was known as the Vauxhall Nova in the UK. It has been sold under the Chevrolet and Holden brand in other parts of the world; here in the UK the Corsa is very popular with several demographic groups.
At the tail end of last year Vauxhall launched the fastest Corsa ever! The Corsa VXR Nurburgring edition went on sale in October. Before this model the VXR was the fastest model in production, the Nurburgring edition uses the same engine but with more power. It has 205 PS compared to the standard VXR's 192 PS.
Vauxhall has been able to tweak more power out of the 1.6 litre turbo charged engine, power increases come from modified engine management and turbocharger system, sports exhaust with reduced back pressure and the ability to run on 98-octane fuel. 0-60mph is achieved in 6.5 seconds, on to a top speed of 143mph.
On the outside you can immediately tell that this is no ordinary VXR, the Nurburgring edition comes with a stainless steel dual exhaust, newly designed forged aluminium wheels in high-gloss grey, and 'Nurburgring' logos on the B-Pillars and front spoiler lip. Two new colours are available for the Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition: apple green 'Grasshopper' and red 'Henna'.
On the inside it comes with red and black 'Nurburgring' lettering features on the sill plates and front Recaro seat backs, with white stitching on all seats, handbrake and gearshift console. The new Vauxhall Corsa in Kent is available now, prices start at 22,295.
