The very first Ford Mondeo Model rolled off the production line in 1992 and hit Ford London showrooms, 10 years on and the large family car is selling very well. The Mondeo has become very popular with families and fleet drivers, with its choice of petrol and diesel engines the Mondeo attracts buyers from all walks of life. This achievement has not gone unnoticed and the Mondeo has won several awards over the years.
The latest model was launched in 2009 and like its predecessors it has quickly become a firm favourite with buyers. It has won awards from What Car?, Diesel Car, Fleet News and Green Car magazines.
2012 has kicked off well for the Mondeo and Ford, this month it has been awarded two more awards by What Car? it has been named Best Family Car and Best Estate Car. The best family car award went to the Ford Mondeo 1.6 TDCi 115PS Zetec, with the Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 140PS Zetec being named the best estate. The Mondeo has won these awards at the What Car? awards last year and also in 2009.
The Mondeo Zetec model comes as standard with 16in alloy wheels, advanced Bluetooth hands-free and voice control system, cruise control, adjustable speed limiter, Quick Clear heated windscreen, leather trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, electronic stability programme with traction control and Emergency Brake Assist, electrically operated and heated door mirrors with integral indicators and Thatcham approved alarm.
With all this equipment as standard it is no surprise that the Zetec accounts for 38% of all Mondeo sales in the UK. My favourite engine is the 1.6 TDCI which has auto start-stop as standard. It can achieve 41.5 miles to the gallon and only emit 114g/KM of CO2. It can also reach 134 mph making it fast, fuel efficient and eco friendly.
