The new Bentley Mulsanne has been in production since 2010, it is a high end luxury car produced in Crew, England. Although Bentley is now owned by German car giant BMW all Bentley production is still done at the historic British factory. The new car uses the Mulsanne nameplate as a showcase to the old model which won five times at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Bentley has retained the iconic 6.75 litre V8 in the new Mulsanne, but it has been heavily modified to comply with Euro 5 regulations. These modifications have resulted in much better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. It now emits 393 g/km of CO2 and can do 16.8 miles to the gallon.
Last year the Mulsanne won the International Readers' Award - Readers of Centurion Magazine from across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific were asked to share their favourites in various travel and lifestyle categories. The Mulsanne won the Best Limousine/Saloon Car category amongst some very competitive models from other manufacturers.
Thomas Midulla who is the International Editorial Director of Centurion magazine, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Pacific said, "The inaugural Readers' Choice survey has taken our relationship with our readers to a whole new level. For the first time, we have been given an insight into the personal favourites of precisely the people Centurion magazine is created for."
With the success of the Mulsanne, Bentley has announced that spin off models may go into production. Since its launch there have been rumours of a convertible and coupe but now Bentley has said that it has had many requests for a long wheel base model too and it is considering making that an option in its model line-up. When considering new models Bentley is trying to ensure that they will attract a wide audience from China and the USA.
