Ford has a good track record for producing award winning models year after year and reinventing existing models without making any radical changes. Look at the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo which have been in production for many years and will probably continue to be so for many more.
However, the risk of releasing new editions of exiting models year after year is that consumers may not feel that they are getting value for their money and that the new model is just a shinier version of the old one. Take the new new Mondeo for instance. The new Ford Mondeo was recently revealed at the Detroit Motor Show and won't be released until March 2013. Is this car just a revamp of the existing model or is it worth the wait and expense?
Well, Ford tell us that it really is a new model - from the body to the chassis to the engines, everything about this Mondeo is brand spanking new. There will also be, for the first time ever, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models that will knock the previous model's fuel economy out of the park.
What we all expect from a new car is cutting-edge technology and the new Mondeo lives up to expectation in this respect with new safety kit, including a lane-keeping system, radar-equipped adaptive cruise control and hands-free auto parking.
For the technology lovers, the new Mondeo will feature 'SYNC', Ford's Microsoft-developed in-car entertainment system, which is capable of streaming music to the car's speakers from your phone and also incorporates Bluetooth and Internet access. Most of which will be capable of being operated by voice control too.
