Bonsai trees originate from China but they are very popular in the UK. Bonsai are sold in most garden centres and nurseries and are well suited as an indoor plant. They are easy to look after and look very pretty for decorative use and this is what makes them a favoured choice. Bonsai trees are grown in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan and are exported and sold all over the world for plant lovers to enjoy. Some Bonsai trees are grown in the UK and these are native varieties. Some bonsai plants are even tough enough to survive outside in cold UK winter temperatures. When you purchase a bonsai it will come with care instructions and these should be followed carefully to ensure you look after the Bonsai correctly.

In the UK most Bonsai trees are sold for indoor use and are quite small. You can purchase large bonsai trees for outdoor use and these are ideal for creating focal points in gardens or at entrances to add a wow factor to your property. Large bonsai trees can be quite expensive but will survive for years and years if they are well looked after. If you plan on keeping a Bonsai outside then you may want to place it in a green house in very cold and frosty periods to protect it from any damage. When Bonsai trees are shipped to the UK they may need time to acclimatise to the new temperatures and some will need to be kept indoors for some time before they are ready to be placed outside. For indoor Bonsai trees this isn’t really an issue. You are best not to leave Bonsai trees in direct sunlight for long periods such as on window sills as this may kill them.

Bonsai come is a wide range of sizes and types and some Bonsai trees are native British Bonsai tress such as English hawthorn. Most retailers of Bonsai trees will also sell a range of Bonsai accessories such as books on how to care for Bonsai trees, pots, watering accessories, tools, gifts, wire, fertilisers and additives to help you care for your Bonsai trees.
