Have you been longing for an Audi A1 in London but been put off by the lack of a five door model? Well this is about to change as Audi has announced that a new five door "Sportback" model is now ready for orders. Deliveries are expected to start for the March plate change, which is only a few weeks away now. Prices for the new model will start at 13,980.
At launch the A1 Sportback will be available with a choice of 4 engines; a 1.2-litre petrol, two 1.4-litre petrols and a 1.6-litre diesel. The entry level model will be the 1.2 TFSI petrol in SE trim, which offers 85bhp and 118lb ft and comes as standard with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The most fuel efficient model will be the 1.6 litre TDI diesel; it will have 104 bhp and 184 lb ft or torque. According to official figures it will be able to achieve 74.3 miles per gallon and emit 99g/km of CO2. These CO2 and MPG figures are very competitive and will help set the A1 apart from other manufacturer models.
If its performance you are after then the 1.4 TFSI with its turbo and supercharging engine should be adequate. The small 1.4 litre engine will be able to produce 182 bhp and will be able to do 0-62 mph in 7.0 seconds as well as have a top speed of 138 mph. Even this powerful model will be good on fuel; it will be able to do 47.9 miles per gallon.
As standard the Sportback model will come with alloys, remote central locking, air-con, electric front and rear windows, a split folding rear seats and a six-speaker single CD Concert audio system linked to a 6.5-inch retractable display. If you opt for the S-Line model then you will get tweaked sports suspension, special interior and body styling " including a rear spoiler " cloth/leather upholstery and an LED interior light package.
